Welcome to the Start of Quarter 2!
We have officially made it through the firsts of this school year, and our momentum continues to thrive! Thank you for your continued partnership as we enter this exciting next chapter of our academic year.
Academic Focus: Data-Driven Instruction for Q2
-
Leveraging Data for Student Success: As we begin the second quarter, our teachers are utilizing data from our recent progress monitoring assessments to adjust and tailor instruction.
-
Targeted Support: By identifying exactly where our students excel and where they need extra support, we can ensure every lesson moves our campus in a positive direction and meets each child's unique needs.
Campus Safety & Culture: Proactive Conflict Resolution
-
"If You Hear Something, Say Something": We are continuing our campus-wide focus on healthy conflict resolution. Please reinforce with your student the importance of reaching out to a trusted adult on campus (a teacher, guidance counselor, or administrator) if they hear about or experience a potential disagreement.
-
Early Intervention: When students share information early, our staff can step in and support resolving issues peacefully before actions occur. Working together, we can maintain a safe, respectful, and distraction-free learning environment for everyone.
Important Reminders:
-
Bank Community Partners: A friendly reminder to families who park at the bank across the street during pick-up: The bank owner has kindly requested that parents do not park in handicap spaces or the spots directly in front of the bank entrance.
-
Crosswalk Safety: Always use designated crosswalk areas when arriving on or leaving campus, and follow all crossing guard directions.
-
Supervision Windows: As a reminder, campus supervision is available 30 minutes before school begins and 30 minutes after dismissal. Please ensure drop-offs and pick-ups occur within these times.
-
On-Campus YMCA Extended Care: For families needing childcare outside of standard supervision hours, our on-site YMCA program is here to help. Please contact the main office if you need registration forms or help signing up.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to our students, staff, and campus community. Let's make Quarter 2 our best one yet!
Together we work, and together we grow.
Go Jets!

We are excited to offer our 8th-grade students the opportunity to attend Gradventure on Friday, May 14, 2027. This exciting event serves as a celebration of students' accomplishments as they prepare to transition from middle school to high school.
Important Eligibility Information
Please note that Gradventure is a privilege. Students are expected to maintain positive behavior and satisfactory academic performance throughout the school year.
A student's eligibility may be revoked after registration and payment if they:
- Receive a Level 3 referral
- Receive a Level 4 referral
- Earn a failing grade
If a student becomes ineligible for Gradventure, no refunds will be issued.
Cost and Inclusions
The total cost of Gradventure is $195, which includes:
- Admission ticket
- Gradventure t-shirt
- Drawstring bag
- One quick-service meal
- One beverage
Payment Information
- Students should submit their permission slip before making any payments.
-
School Cash Link for Student Payments (Chaperones have a separate payment link.)
- Families may choose to make incremental payments rather than paying the full amount at one time.
- All payments must be paid in full by Friday, March 5, 2027.
- No exceptions can be made for late payments.
Please note: Gradventure is a special ticketed event hosted by Universal Orlando. Annual passes are not valid for admission, and all students and chaperones attending must purchase a Gradventure ticket through the school. No exceptions can be made by the school or the venue.
Parent Chaperone Information
We welcome parent involvement and appreciate those interested in serving as Gradventure chaperones.
To be considered as a chaperone, parents/guardians must:
- Be registered and approved as an Additions Volunteer with Legacy Middle School.
- After you have been approved as an LMS Additions Volunteer, sign up for the Gradventure Volunteer Opportunity once it becomes available.
Chaperones who have been approved to volunteer for Gradventure will receive an email confirmation from Ms. Haynes that includes the Gradventure Chaperone School Cash link.
Due to limited volunteer spaces, submitting a volunteer application does not guarantee selection as a chaperone. Additional details regarding volunteer responsibilities, payment information, and event expectations will be shared with approved chaperones.
We encourage families to regularly monitor student grades and behavior throughout the year to ensure eligibility is maintained. We look forward to celebrating this milestone with our 8th grade students and will share additional details, including the payment link, as they become available.
Thank you for your support in helping make this a memorable experience for our students.

Ms. Haynes

As students visit the library with their ELA classes, Ms. Haynes is notifying them of any overdue books on their accounts. To view the titles of books currently checked out, any overdue items, and the exact replacement cost, students can follow these steps:
- Log in to LaunchPad.
- Open the Library Research Tools folder.
- Select Follett Destiny.
- Click My Stuff on the left-hand side of the screen.
Students who have overdue books checked out from Legacy Middle School have two options:
- Return the book to the library.
- Pay the replacement fee through School Cash.
If the overdue book belongs to a school other than Legacy Middle School, you will need to contact that school directly for information about paying the fee through their School Cash system. However, books from other OCPS schools may be returned to the Legacy Media Center, and we will ensure they are sent back to the appropriate school.
Thank you for helping us keep our library collection available for all students!
|
Log your reading minutes into Beanstack to earn badges and prizes! Find the Library Research Tools Folder in Launchpad and open the Beanstack app. Ms. Haynes will be giving out monthly prizes to readers with the most minutes, most books read, or those with the most badges.
