Hello from St. Louis, Missouri! Our Legacy Robotics Team is in the 'Gateway to the West,' competing in the 2026 Vex Robotics World Championship. Our students are testing, coding, and competing with OCPS' first ever AI enabled Robot. That's right, AI enabled. This is a monumental feat for our Jets, and the experiences that we have the privilege of providing them is unparalleled.
Last week, we proudly showcased our talented students in the theater presentation of Disney’s Descendants: The Musical. The cast and crew’s dedication and hard work truly shone through in an outstanding performance.
Next week is the last round of testing, this is our final push to review, stay focused, and help students feel confident and prepared to show what they know. Our teachers are guiding students every step of the way, and encouragement from home makes a big difference. Reminder, families, end of year state testing is adaptive.
• The test attempt is tailored to the ability level of a student, so the precision of resulting test scores is increased, across all ability levels.
• The tests are more precise because the test is adapting dynamically to the students’ ability level, so fewer items can be delivered to students than a fixed-form test.
• Results are delivered within 24 hours after the student takes the test.
Please remind your child to do their best and to answer every question in sequential order. We tell students that the harder the test gets, the better they're doing!
Thank you for all you do to support our students and school community. Let’s finish the year strong together!

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is the leading cause of death in sports and on school campuses – more than any form of cancer, concussion, or illness combined. Thousands of seemingly healthy kids die every year due to detectable heart conditions.
That’s why Legacy Middle School is thrilled to announce that we’ve partnered with Who We Play For to provide every middle and high school student the opportunity to get their heart checked with an electrocardiogram (ECG). The FREE heart screening will take place on Wednesday, April 29th from 4 - 6 pm at Legacy Middle School.
Every parent or guardian can register their student for a FREE screening online here or by scanning the QR code in the flyer above.
Why take advantage of this FREE electrocardiogram (ECG) heart screening?
- Thousands of kids die annually from an undetected heart condition that puts them at risk for Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Many of these kids could’ve been saved with a simple ECG. The biggest misconception about SCA is that it won’t happen to your student. Don’t take a chance with your child’s heart.
- The standard physical is statistically proven to be less than 4% effective at detecting any heart conditions; adding an ECG significantly improves those odds. An ECG is ~95% effective at detecting Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, which has been regarded as the most common cause of sudden cardiac death in young people.
- ECG screening is non-invasive, painless, and takes about 5 minutes or less. Watch our quick pre-screening video with your child to learn how simple the process is and hear parent testimonials advocating for ECGs.
- Each ECG is interpreted by a board-certified pediatric cardiologist, and results are returned via email within 10 business days of the screening.
- An ECG typically costs around $150.
What is Who We Play For (WWPF)?
WWPF is a 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is to eliminate preventable Sudden Cardiac Death in the Young. WWPF represents every young person who lost their life due to a detectable heart condition missed in their physical. At hundreds of schools across the country, WWPF has screened 400,000+ students and saved the lives of 400+ students, all of whom had previously undetected life-threatening heart conditions.

Congratulations to these outstanding Intro to Engineering students, Gladys Rosario, Noah Jones, Joslyne Figueroa, Matthew Ibanez, Kaxandra Mariana, and Isabella Deo, who passed the Autodesk Fusion 360 Certification! Achieving an industry-recognized credential at the middle school level is truly exceptional.
Why This Is Such an Amazing Achievement
Passing the Autodesk Fusion 360 Certification is no small feat, especially for middle school students. This certification is typically designed for high school, college, and even industry professionals, and it requires students to demonstrate real-world skills in:
- 3D modeling and design
- Engineering workflows
- Precision, problem-solving, and technical thinking
- Industry-standard software used by engineers and designers worldwide
For middle school students to master this level of software and earn an industry-recognized credential speaks volumes about their dedication, perseverance, and advanced STEM skills. It also shows they are already building career-ready competencies years ahead of expectations.
These students should be incredibly proud. They’ve achieved something that many don’t accomplish until much later in their academic or professional journeys.

Mr. Zissis’s world history class combined STEAM with History to create their own working ancient Roman Aqueducts! Students worked to make an aqueduct that could transfer water from one end to a cup on the other end without spilling.

The Let's Read OCPS Reading Challenge is running until April 30! Legacy Middle School has set a reading goal of 190,300 minutes for the Let's Read OCPS Reading Challenge! So far, we have over 16,000 minutes logged by our students and staff.
Help us reach the goal by logging your minutes in Beanstack each time you read. Remember, 10 minutes of daily reading can help build that habit and take you on a journey! 📚 #OCPSReads @ocps_official
