Greetings, Jets.
As we continue moving through a busy and exciting spring season, I want to thank you for your continued partnership and support.
First, we invite you to join us for our PTSA meeting this Monday. These meetings are a wonderful opportunity to stay informed, share your voice, and support the programs that make our school such a special place for students.
Next week, we are thrilled to showcase our talented students in the theater presentation of Disney’s Descendants: The Musical. Our cast and crew have been working incredibly hard, and we can’t wait for our school community to enjoy their performances. We hope to see many of you there cheering them on!
Academically, we are entering the final stretch. With three more weeks until the last round of testing, this is our final push to review, stay focused, and help students feel confident and prepared to show what they know. Our teachers are guiding students every step of the way, and encouragement from home makes a big difference.
As we head toward the end of the school year, here are three ways parents can help support students: - Maintain a consistent routine – Regular bedtimes, healthy meals, and structured homework time help students stay energized and focused.
- Encourage effort and progress – Celebrate growth, not just grades. A few positive words can go a long way in boosting confidence.
- Make time to listen – Check in with your child about how they’re feeling as the year winds down. Reassurance and understanding help reduce stress.
Thank you for all you do to support our students and school community. Let’s finish the year strong together!

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is the leading cause of death in sports and on school campuses – more than any form of cancer, concussion, or illness combined. Thousands of seemingly healthy kids die every year due to detectable heart conditions.
That’s why Legacy Middle School is thrilled to announce that we’ve partnered with Who We Play For to provide every middle and high school student the opportunity to get their heart checked with an electrocardiogram (ECG). The FREE heart screening will take place on Wednesday, April 29th from 4 - 6 pm at Legacy Middle School.
Every parent or guardian can register their student for a FREE screening online here or by scanning the QR code in the flyer above.
Why take advantage of this FREE electrocardiogram (ECG) heart screening? - Thousands of kids die annually from an undetected heart condition that puts them at risk for Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Many of these kids could’ve been saved with a simple ECG. The biggest misconception about SCA is that it won’t happen to your student. Don’t take a chance with your child’s heart.
- The standard physical is statistically proven to be less than 4% effective at detecting any heart conditions; adding an ECG significantly improves those odds. An ECG is ~95% effective at detecting Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, which has been regarded as the most common cause of sudden cardiac death in young people.
- ECG screening is non-invasive, painless, and takes about 5 minutes or less. Watch our quick pre-screening video with your child to learn how simple the process is and hear parent testimonials advocating for ECGs.
- Each ECG is interpreted by a board-certified pediatric cardiologist, and results are returned via email within 10 business days of the screening.
- An ECG typically costs around $150.
What is Who We Play For (WWPF)? WWPF is a 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is to eliminate preventable Sudden Cardiac Death in the Young. WWPF represents every young person who lost their life due to a detectable heart condition missed in their physical. At hundreds of schools across the country, WWPF has screened 400,000+ students and saved the lives of 400+ students, all of whom had previously undetected life-threatening heart conditions.

Congratulations on this educational milestone for your student! Transitioning to High School is exciting and should be smooth and without any delays. In an effort to ensure all student’s records are accurate and up to date, we are requiring parents to provide updated current proof of address to Ms. Silva school registrar in room 118.
This documentation should be provided to the school by close of business April 15, 2026. Failure to provide updated verification of residence will result in your child’s withdrawal from OCPS and you risk your student not having a schedule for the start of the 2026 school year.
To verify your address, you must provide the following: - If you own a house: warranty deed, property taxes, closing contract, or homestead exemption card along with: current utility bill, your ID with current address, and current mail.
- If you rent a house or apartment: signed lease along with: your ID with your current address, recent utility bill, proof of rent payments, current mail, and renters’ insurance.
- If you live with someone who owns or rents the house: you must obtain an updated Verification of Residence from Student Enrollment Office. Please make an appointment online or call 407-317-3233.
You will need to provide a minimum of the following documents: - Your ID with current address.
- Three items with your name and address dated within the last month, such as car registration, paystub, bank statement, insurance, phone bill, or current mail.
- In addition, you must provide the ID of the lease or homeowner and a copy of the lease or proof of homeownership.
More documentation may be required depending on the circumstances in a case-by-case situation.
If you have any further questions please email Ms. Silva at 140351@ocps.net.
