Greetings, Jets.
We hope you and your families are enjoying the three-day weekend. Next Saturday, you are invited to join us for our Campus Beautification Day. Your participation would be greatly appreciated.
As we move into the second half of the school year, it’s normal for motivation to ebb and flow. Here are a few simple ways to help keep students focused and encouraged:
-
Set small, achievable goals. Breaking larger tasks into bite-sized steps helps students feel successful and less overwhelmed.
-
Maintain a routine. Consistent bedtimes, homework times, and screen-time limits can make a big difference.
-
Celebrate progress, not just results. Recognizing effort helps build confidence and resilience.
-
Stay connected. Ask your student about their day, their classes, and what they are excited—or worried—about. Feeling supported at home boosts motivation at school.
-
Encourage breaks and balance. A healthy mix of schoolwork, hobbies, and downtime helps students stay energized.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Together, we are helping our students grow, thrive, and achieve their best.

We are excited to announce our upcoming Beautification Day on February 21st from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and we’re inviting our entire school community to join us! We need the support of parents, students, families, and community members to help beautify our campus and make it a cleaner, brighter place for everyone.
Volunteers will assist with a variety of projects, including spreading mulch, planting flowers and plants, and helping to clean up the campus. This is a wonderful opportunity to make a positive impact, earn service hours, and show pride in our school.
We are also inviting all of our student clubs and organizations to participate—this is a great team‑building activity and a chance to give back.
We hope to see you there as we work together to make our school shine!

Dear Future Sponsor,
Education is the foundation of our community’s future, but that foundation is only as strong as the teachers we prepare today. At OCASA, we are on a mission to ensure that the next generation of educators has the support they need to succeed.
This year, we have set an ambitious and historic goal for the OCASA Scholarship Scramble: To fund one $1,000 scholarship for a graduating senior at every single one of the 23 Orange County Public School (OCPS) high schools.
To reach this $23,000 goal, we are looking for community partners who believe in the power of local education. By sponsoring this event, you aren't just putting your brand in front of local professionals—you are directly investing in the future of 23 students who will one day lead our classrooms.
We have established several "Academic Tiers" of sponsorship to help us reach this target:
-
The Valedictorian (Event Sponsor) – $5,000: Funds 5 full scholarships. Includes naming rights for the event and Awards Luncheon, plus premier marketing placement, and a player foursome in the scramble.
-
The Magna Cum Laude (Driving Range) – $2,000: Funds 2 full scholarships. Includes exclusive signage at the Driving Range, name on all marketing, and a player foursome in the scramble.
-
The Honor Society (Hole + Foursome) – $1,500: Funds 1.5 scholarships. Includes a player foursome and a custom Tee Box sign.
-
The Dean’s List (Hole Sponsor) – $1,000: Funds 1 full scholarship. Provides high-visibility signage at a designated hole.
-
Teaching Assistant – $250: A vital contribution toward a partial scholarship for a deserving student.
Whether you join us on the course as a golfer or support us as a sponsor, your contribution ensures that 23 future teachers—one from every high school in the OCPS —start their journey with the support of their community behind them.
Will you help us reach our goal of 23 scholarships for 23 schools?
Thank you for your commitment to our students and the future of Orange County Public Schools.
Sincerely,
Nathan Hay

Our students have officially moved from cutting and sewing to bringing their puppets to life! ✨
This week, they added eyes and accessories, and many have already started attaching arms. Their creativity is exploding, and each puppet is becoming a unique character of its own!
Stay tuned—more puppet magic to come! 🧵🪡

Mrs. Thomas is the assistant principal of instruction. Her biggest regret is not going back to school to get her master's degree earlier than she did. She picked this job because it allows her to help students reach their academic potential and make sure they are put in the right classes and that they are challenged but not too challenged. She gets to help more students than she would in a regular classroom.
Her inspiration is her uncle, who was born with Down syndrome, and so he struggled in school, and how hard he worked to reach any goal that he had for himself just let her know that, despite any challenge she may have, if she tries, she can reach her goal. Her secret talent is that she learned how to manage walking 4 dogs at one time, without tripping or falling. Lastly, the worst food she has ever tried is shrimp

Mr. Connor’s gifted class worked with a partner to pick a sport and create a brand‑new safety helmet designed to help prevent concussions and other injuries. Students used materials from their home recycle bins to build their helmets and added cool new technology and safety features. After making their helmets, each group gave a presentation explaining why they designed it the way they did and talked about three real players from the sport who could benefit from their new helmet.

Our school is excited to be part of the Let's Read OCPS! reading challenge, with 50 million minutes read across the district! This challenge runs until April 30. Our school goal is 190,300 minutes and so far, we have 1,500 minutes logged by our students.
Encourage your child to read daily and log their minutes through the Beanstack app. We can reach our goal by logging as little as 20 minutes a day! All reading and every minute counts!
