Greetings, Jets!
We’re excited to share our new promotional video showcasing the Legacy Scholastic Academy! We invite you to watch and learn more about the incredible opportunities our academy offers.
Last Tuesday, students participated in the Student Government Association (SGA) election, casting their votes to help choose this year’s student leaders. Congratulations to all the elected representatives! Please see the announcement below for this year's duly elected SGA officers.
In just two weeks, we’ll be hosting our annual Teach-In event. If you have a job, hobby, or special skill you'd love to share with our students, we’d be delighted to have you participate! For more information or to sign up, please contact Ms. Haynes.
Our next round of assessments is less than a month away! During the first week of December, students will take the PM2 FAST ELA and Math assessments, followed by Common Final Exams.
Lastly, we are pleased to announce the birth of our newest Jet, Jaxon Bedford! Mr. and Mrs. Bedford welcomed Jaxon to the flight deck on 11/6/2025. Congratulations, Bedford family!
Have a great week!

Legacy offers Introduction to Engineering Design, a high school course that teachers students how to draft various designs using sophisticated applications. One of our students, Graham Klein, created a rendition of a building, which was the setting of the Triangle Shirt Waist Factory fire in the early 1900s. The standard, ELA.7.R.1.1 Analyze the impact of setting on character development and plot in a literary text was coupled with the use of TinkerCad Autodesk to create a rendition of what a factory should look like with safety protocols in place. Cross-curricular experiences support our students with applying their knowledge of critical content.
In his explanation, Graham wrote [T]his design is a modern day (from around 2025) and includes some safety features that were not there on the building [Triangle Shirt Waist Factory] during the time it burned. If it burned around the current period of time then she could use some of the safety equipment equipped in the building. For example, fire extinguishers. using it to put out fires.
This activity, and Graham's rendition of developing solutions for building safety, was fire!🔥

Mr. Zissis is a 6th-grade World History teacher; this will be his 2nd year of teaching. His most memorable moment is not as a teacher but as a coach during a game where they beat Timber Springs Middle School. His favorite quote is “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened” from Dr. Seuss. Describing teaching in one word to him is exciting. It depends on the day to enjoy his class.

On Monday, November 10th, our Orange County Public Library Liaison from the Chickasaw Branch will be visiting to lead a fun fall activity with a few of our ELA classes and the Journalism class.
Our October Beanstack winners were announced last week. As we begin the month of November, continue reading and logging those minutes!
So far, we’ve logged almost 80,000 minutes toward our 100,000-minute goal. Let’s keep reading and reach that milestone together!

Ms. Haynes recently attended the annual FAME Conference (Florida Association for Media in Education), a premier event that brings together librarians from across the state of Florida.
The conference offered a dynamic blend of professional development and networking opportunities, including author meet-and-greets, keynote presentations, and a wide variety of library-focused workshops. In addition to the educational sessions, attendees enjoyed a bit of fun at the President’s Reception, which this year embraced a “Wicked” theme, adding a festive and creative touch to the experience.
|
During the Late Night Library Games, teams of librarians competed to creatively recreate book covers. Although Ms. Haynes’ team didn’t take home the win, the experience was filled with laughter, teamwork, and plenty of fun!
|
We’re excited to be adding new titles to our school library collection! The Junior Library Guild list shows all categories available but we are only ordering books from the Upper Elementary/Middle, Nonfiction Middle, Graphic Novels Middle Plus, Biographies Middle Plus, and Spanish Middle.
The Lists can be found HERE.
