We're excited to see our students embracing the new school year with enthusiasm and making positive choices right from the start. The first two weeks have been full of energy and opportunity!
Last week, we held tryouts for Boys' Soccer and the Dance Team—thank you to everyone who participated and showed their school spirit. This week, the spotlight shifts to the stage as students audition for our upcoming theater production of The Jungle Book Kids. We can't wait to see their talents shine!
Our PTSA will hold their first meeting of the year on Thursday, August 28th in our media center starting at 6:30pm. If you're not yet part of our PTSA, be sure to stop by and introduce yourself!

If we can secure a minimum purchase order of 100 shirts, we will have them delivered to Legacy for $25/shirt and zero shipping! Each shirt is a custom order. Take a look at the shirts below. The first mock up is what the vendor says they can create for us. The second mock up with the white background is what our staff wears.Â
We'd love to have you, our community, show your Legacy pride with a purchase of one these custom shirts!Â

Reminder: State-Mandated Cell Phone Policy Starting Monday, August 18th, all cell phones must be silenced and stored out of sight—either in a backpack or purse—for the entire school day, from 9:25 AM to 4:04 PM. This rule is set by the state and applies to everyone on campus..

The weather can be very unpredictable the first few months of the school year. Cloudy skies and rain is not a signal of a delayed dismissal. We will only call a delayed dismissal should our dismissal procedures be impacted by lightning in our area. Families, please realize that our student and staff safety is our top priority. We understand that the weather is an inconvenience; however, we all choose to live in the lightning capital of the world. Please do not double park or impede another family from entering or exiting campus. Should you need to arrive on campus to pick up your child during a delayed dismissal, please follow the schematic below. You'll enter through the car loop doors, sign your child out in the cafeteria, and exit out on the east side of the cafeteria. Thank you.
For our families new to Legacy, at dismissal and no sooner, please note that during times of inclement weather, we follow the nationally recognized '30/30 Rule'. If thunder is heard within 30 seconds of a lightning strike, students will not be dismissed until 30 minutes have passed from the last sound of thunder. Parents may arrive on campus to sign out their child.

Mrs. Zayas-Vargas's students were building relationships in two teamwork activities.
Last week, the students were working together to create a list of class norms.
In groups, the students discussed what went well, what could have been better, and what should be added to last year's Legacy Live morning announcements. |

In 8th Grade science, we are working on reviewing how scientists find answers to real world questions - this can be through observing, comparing, building models and, everyone's favorite, experimenting. These real-world scenarios are not limited to a fancy lab but can also be found in everyday life.  Matthew, Christian, and Juliano enjoyed the lab and look forward to a great year of labs and exploring the wonderful world of science!

📚 Library Adventures Begin in ELA!
This week, our ELA classes began their visits to the school library with an engaging orientation session and the chance to check out new books. In addition to physical books, students can dive into digital reading through the Sora app, accessible via Launchpad.
To make reading even more exciting, we’re launching a monthly incentive program! Students who log their reading minutes in the Beanstack app will be eligible for special rewards. Let’s celebrate the joy of reading—one page at a time!
Students can now enjoy a vast library of eBooks—including graphic novels and magazines—through the Sora app, conveniently available on Launchpad. These digital titles are accessible anytime, anywhere, on any device, making reading more flexible and fun than ever!
Students can stay motivated and organized with Beanstack, a Launchpad app designed to enhance their reading journey. With Beanstack, they can log their reading minutes, join exciting challenges, and keep a running list of all the books they explore throughout the school year. It’s a fun and interactive way to build strong reading habits!

🌞 What Is the Sunshine State Young Readers Award (SSYRA)?
Each year, Florida Media Specialists carefully select the Sunshine State Young Readers Award Book List to help spark a love of reading in students across the state. These books are chosen not only for their literary quality and engaging stories, but also for their variety—ranging across genres, cultures, and curriculum connections.
The goal? To encourage children to read for pleasure and build strong reading fluency in the process. Whether your child is into mysteries, graphic novels, or heartfelt tales, there’s something on the SSYRA list to capture their imagination.
