Principal’s Message

Greetings,
Allow me to reintroduce to you our proud 'B' community school! It is an honor to begin my 5th year as Principal of Legacy Middle School! I am a product of Orange County Public Schools. After graduating from Cypress Creek High School, I had the privilege of attending university and playing football on a full grant-in-aid scholarship at Southern Miss. I then transitioned to the National Football League for 3 years, and finishing my unexpected, yet rewarding football career in the Canadian Football League 6 seasons later. I know that none of these opportunities would have ever manifested for a kid like me had it not been for the guidance and direction of some incredible teachers in my life, some of whom I still reach out to for advice and guidance.
While on a humanitarian mission in 2011, my first impromptu teaching experience was under a grass hut in a small, Haitian village a year after the 7.0 earthquake devastated the region in 2010. I didn’t know what I was doing, nor could I understand Haitian-Creole, but I knew that the group of students that I worked with appreciated my efforts. This experience solidified my calling to serve. While I had several offers to coach collegiate football at the Division II & III levels, I knew that I was meant to pave the way for those that needed the same guidance and direction that I had been given. Upon retiring from pro football, I became a teacher and have never looked back.
I am proof that demography does not equal destiny. With consistency, drive, determination, and perseverance, we can achieve anything. I will work to instill these same values that allowed me to soar to unprecedented heights in our students.
Lastly, I believe that parental and community involvement is vital to our core business of teaching and learning. Our mission is to ensure that every student has a promising and successful future, and our vision is that with the support of our families and the community, we will create enriching and diverse pathways to lead our students to success. Please get involved and support our Legacy Jets! Student success is driven by the support of parents, teachers, staff, and community members.
I look forward to a tremendous year, and look forward to serving the amazing Legacy community.
Sincerely,
Jason Jiménez
