Accelerated Reader Program

Legacy has been recognized by Renaissance Learning, the company who makes Accelerated Reader, for each student reading an average of 453,482 words and taking an average of 19 quizzes each. Studies show that it is most beneficial for students to read for a minimum of 35 minutes a day. Make this a priority at home by asking your child what they are reading and encourage them find good books. Your media specialist and classroom teachers are happy to provide suggestions, as will the staff at the local public library.

Accelerated Reader (AR) offers more than 140,000 quizzes to help motivate and monitor students' reading performance and vocabulary growth. Each nine weeks students have an AR Goal to meet. The top earner's will be invited to an end of the year bash celebrating their achievements.

Legacy Middle School students and teachers use the AcceleratedReader program to set goals, promote reading, and track success. You can monitor your child’s progress (including percent correct on quizzes, number of points earned, and average book reading level), from your home by going online to access Renaissance Home Connect. The site is very user friendly, and allows you to receive up-to-date email messages in English or Spanish for every AR quiz taken.
